(Sept. 11th 2009,Xiamen)The 13th China International Forum for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) is concluded today. As the only regional investment partnership in CIFIT 2009, Brazil joined hands with Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Uruguay in the South America Pavilion. During the past four days, hundreds of foreign companies visited the joint booth. Nearly 170 of them showed initial interest in investing in Brazil, and about 60 companies had one-on-one in-depth discussion, focusing on the areas of agribusiness, biofuels, mining, energy, etc, which become a highlight of CIFIT this year.
Mr. Alessandro Teixeira, Chairman of Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brazil) and concurrent President of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) participated in CIFIT 2009, and was invited to give speeches at the 8th Roundtable Conference for International Chamber Partnerships and International Investment Promotion Agencies Roundtable Conference. For the Sino-Brazilian relations, Mr. Alessandro Teixeira said, “Sino-Brazilian relations have continued to strengthen over recent years. I have participated in three CIFIT, and I found that Chinese investors are getting more interested to Brazil. Brazil is the largest trading partner of China in South America, and China is the largest trading partner of Brazil worldwide. The major industries of Chinese investment in Brazil are electronic, mining, natural resource, transportation, etc. In the next few years, it will be explored to automobile, food, and manufacturing. I am confident to strengthen the partnership in the future.”
After the conclusion of CIFIT this year, Brazil will ramp-up for the preparation of 2010 Shanghai World Expo. On the day before the opening of Xiamen CIFIT, 2010 World Expo Brazil Pavilion handover ceremony was held on Sept.7th in Shanghai. The 2010 Shanghai World Expo will be the largest fair and exhibition of Brazil in China during the upcoming year. It is expected to attract three to four million visitors, which will strengthen Brazil’s country awareness in China, and will continue enhancing investment and trade cooperation of the two sides.
