∈On the morning of September 9, the “Invest in Canada” Seminar, sponsored by China’s Ministry of Commerce and Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, was held at Xiamen International Seaside Hotel. Mario Ste-Marie, Secretary for Canada Investment Promotion Bureau, joined the seminar with an influential business delegation. He presented a detailed introduction of Canada’s advantages, stable investment environment, abundant natural resources and favorable business policies, and invited Chinese enterprises to invest in Canada.

∈On the morning of September 9, the Symposium on International Treaty on the Protection and Promotion of Investments took place at Xiamen University, Fujian. The symposium focused on the relationship between BIT and FTA, solutions to trade deficit, relationship between RTAs and BITs, and various other topics.

∈On the morning of September 9, government officials from Tianshui City in Gansu Province hosted a matchmaking symposium for key investment projects, tourism resources and products.

∈On the morning of September 9, the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region delegation hosted a matchmaking symposium themed around “sharing Xinjiang’s development opportunities and promoting the regional cooperation of Central Asian”. The symposium introduced the resource advantages and geographic conditions, and was aimed at promoting investment, tourism, economic and trade cooperation, technological and cultural exchanges and cooperation.

∈ On the morning of September 9, the Hunan delegation hosted a matchmaking symposium at Sheraton Xiamen Hotel, introducing Hunan’s advantageous investment climate. At the end of symposium, agreements were signed on some projects.

∈ On the morning of September 9, the Matchmaking Symposium for Xiamen industry Base and Industry Chain, sponsored by the Xiamen Municipal People’s Government, took place at Xiamen Mandarin hotel.

∈ On the afternoon of September 9, the Henan delegation hosted the Summit on Communication and Cooperation between Henan and Taiwan at Xiamen Xianglu hotel. About 100 guests, officials and entrepreneurs from 18 provinces and cities attended the meeting. The Director of the Henan Provincial Department of Commerce, Li Qingshu introduced the key investment projects. Representatives from chambers of commerce expressed their hopes for further cooperation.

∈On September 9, Gansu, Shanxi and Xinjiang delegations and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps attended a project contract signing ceremony at Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center. The Guizhou delegation secured three deals on foreign investment projects, invovlving a total investment of RMB 4.633 billion. Other provinces secured contracts on 32 projects, with a total investment of RMB 9.71 billion. The biggest project singed is an aero-generator project in the Bijie area of Guizhou by Bejing investor.

∈ On the afternoon of September 9, a news conference on business and investment opportunities in Beijing’s Taiwan-street was held at Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center.

∈ On the morning of September 9, Geman Symposium was held at Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center.

∈ On the afternoon of September 9, the “Invest in the US” Symposium was held at Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center. Representatives from Illinois, New Mexico and North Carolina spoke at the meeting.

∈ On the afternoon of September 9, the Symposium on Midwest US-China investment cooperation, sponsored by the Investment Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC and the Midwest US-China Association, closed with fruitful results.
