“Invest in Costa Rica” Seminar Held in Xiamen

On September 9, the “Invest in Costa Rica” Seminar, jointly organized by China’s Ministry of Commerce and Costa Rica’s Ministry of Foreign Trade, took place at Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center. Jiang Zengwei, China’s Vice Minister of Commerce and Lewis, Costa Rica’s Minister of Foreign Trade and related officials from both countries attended the seminar.
Mr. Jiang said that the establishment for diplomatic relations between China and Costa Rica reflects the shared wishes of both nations and the political wisdom of both nations’ leaderships, ushering in a fresh era in the relationship between the two countries. Mr. Jiang also stated that as China’s regulatory authority for foreign trade and economic cooperation, the Ministry of Commerce will take advantage of the opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Costa Rica, enhance mutual understanding, and promote bilateral investment and trade.
Mr. Jiang added that he has full confidence in the prospects for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. He said that the fruitful partnership between the two nations will lay a solid foundation for investment cooperation between the two countries, the sustained economic development of both countries will inject endless vitality into the investment cooperation between the two countries, and the complementary nature the two countries’ economies will open up infinite business opportunities for investment cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. Lewis pointed that one of the goals of the Costa Rican government is to formulate a scheme for economic cooperation with China. The Costa Rican government wishes to work more closely with the Chinese government, enhance mutual understanding and promote political, economic and cultural cooperation. He also released information on investment projects in Costa Rica and revealed that the Costa Rican President will visit China in October of this year.
At the end of the seminar, representatives from both nations’ investment promotion agencies signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Investment Promotion.
