The 13th China International Fair for Trade and Investment (CIFIT) was grandly inaugurated at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Centre at 9:08am on September 8, 2009.
Mr. Ma Kai, Secretary-General of the State Council of P.R.C., announced the opening of the 13th CIFIT by opening a door to a hall with a Golden Key, the symbol of CIFIT.
Wu Yi, China’s former Vice Premier and Mr. Li Wuwei, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference also presented the opening ceremony.
This year's CIFIT has attracted dozens of countries and regions represented by governmental as well as non-governmental institutions to attend the fair by setting up booths and holding investment briefings and seminars to promote their respective investment environments and projects.
Britain, France, Canada, Indonesia, Sweden, Poland, Italy, Belgium, Denmark, Hong Kong, Macao and many other countries and regions have held Pavilion Days activities at CIFIT.
Holland Pavilion
“Orange is the color of Holland and also a friendly color.” said Ms. Akie, director of the exhibition department of the Netherlands Council for trade Promotion.
She said they highlight orange in the pavilion this year, with the hope that this friendly color can attract more Chinese enterprises to come and understand the country, as well as to explore business opportunities in Holland.
“As a new strong economic power in the world, China has attracted more and more countries, including Holland, to seek business opportunities in China. CIFIT is a very good platform to establish business relationship between China and Holland.” said Ms. Akie.
Taiwan Pavilion
This year is the first time that Taiwan has set up an exhibition hall at CIFIT. Their exhibition hall, which covers an area of 999 square meters, is the largest one at this year's CIFIT. Butterfly orchids can be seen everywhere in the hall.
"Taiwan is the home of the butterfly orchid. We hope visitors can get an amorous feeling of Taiwan at the first sight.” said Jian Hongming, the responsible person of Taiwan Pavilion.
The exhibits in the Taiwan Pavilion absorbed the attention of many guests, such as a folding bicycle. “Its wheels are as big as the common ones, but it can also be used in hilly areas.” said the owner.
Macau Pavilion
Two huge “M” letters stand in the middle of the Maocao Pavilion, which resemble the Macao Bridge, meaning to set up a bridge between merchants from all over the world by taking advantage of the CIFIT, according to the organizer.
In this year’s Pavilion Day event, the Macao delegation is focusing on the promotion of the image of “MinM” (Made in Macau) and to display related products.
Hong Kong Pavilion
Hong Kong is regarded as the city of fashion, the city of originality and the city of finance. This year, Hong Kong Pavilion highlights its images with a series of digital media technologies.
Originality and finance are their theme this year. To highlight Hong Kong’s position in finance, they designed a finance corridor of which the pillars are made of digital screens. With the currency symbol glittering on the pillars, you will feel that you just walk into an international finance center.
