Editor’s Note: This year marks the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. It is also a time when the world copes with the most severe ?nancial crisis in over half a century.

The economic downturn has resulted in a decline in foreign direct investments and posed unparalleled challenges to countries throughout the world.

Therefore, this year’s China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) becomes an even more valuable forum for promoting investments and ?nding solutions.

As a renowned international trade forum, the annual fair has brought together a number of world leaders in the ?elds of business, industry, politics and academics.

Before the opening of CIFIT, International Investment Express reporters Hu Meidong, Guan Xiaofeng, Yang Cheng, Chen Bei, Tang Zhihao and Lin Qi interviewed several foreign diplomats and senior of?cials from the UN, all of whom offered their opinions on the fair as well as China’s role in promoting international trade under the current global ?nancial crisis.
