From December 1 to 6, 2009, a four-member delegation from the CIFIT Organizing Committee, headed by Yang Shaojing, Vice Director of the Operating Department of the CIFIT Organizing Committee and Vice Director of the China (International) Investment Promotion Center, attended the ninth World SME Expo in Hong Kong to promote the fourteenth CIFIT in 2010.

At the expo, the CIFIT delegation set up exhibitions, hosted seminars, and distributed brochures on the fourteen CIFIT and extended invitations to the expo’s exhibitors and visitors. Many visitors expressed interest in the themes and functions of the CIFIT and indicated that they might consider taking part in next year’s CIFIT. Some even requested to book booths at the CIFIT immediately or enter into partnerships with the CIFIT. A number of exhibitors planned to host related events at the CIFIT.

While in Hong Kong, the CIFIT delegation also visited the Central Government Liaison Office in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong branches of Societe Generale SA, Haitong Securities, Straits Friendship Group, Meihui International, and the Chinese Manufacturers Association.

The World SME Expo is organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. It is staged at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in December every year. Exhibitors include foreign diplomatic missions, representative offices, chambers of commerce, trade associations, intermediary agencies, and financial service providers, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises in trade, information technology, energy efficiency, high-tech environmental protection, and innovation. This year’s World SME Expo focused on Chinese trade, business opportunities in emerging markets, and the enhancement of SME operating efficiency. The Expo included an innovative technology and design expo.
