March 2, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) held the “symposium of foreign chambers of commerce and foreign-invested enterprises in China”, with commerce minister Chen Deming present. The meeting heard the opinions and proposals of foreign-invested enterprises on China soliciting foreign investments and improving investment environment, knew about the ideas of transnational companies on investment in China and exchanges views on the world’s economic situation and the prospects of Chinese market.
Chen stated that China is accelerating the transformation of economic growth mode in a bid to boost the adjustment of economic structure. In the process, China will adhere to the basic state policy of opening up to the outside world, further expand it, and continuously, positively and effectively solicit foreign investments to create a better investment environment for foreign-invested enterprises so as to better exert the active role of foreign-invested enterprises in boosting scientific innovation, industrial upgrading and regional coordinated development, hoping foreign-invested enterprises adjust to the new requirements for Chinese economic and social development, constantly raise the quality and level of their investments in China and simultaneously make new contributions to promoting the development of the economic and trade ties between China and other countries.
Representatives of 27 foreign-invested enterprises and 6 chambers of commerce (agencies) within China took part in the meeting, which was chaired by assistant commerce minister Wang Chao.
