The 6th CIFIT was held in Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center, China on 8 September 2002. Over 5000 guests attended the Opening Ceremony. Member of Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Vice Premier of China Qian Qichen attended the fair.

ShenzhenCity, attending the Fair for the first time, became the 45th member units of CIFIT.141 delegations from 34 countries and regions exhibited in the 6th CIFIT. Britain Pavilion Day became the first National Pavilion Day of the CIFIT. More than 3300 business guests from Taiwan took part in the 6th CIFIT. A large number of Taiwan enterprises exhibit in the Fair.
The 6th CIFIT for the first time makes the “Introduce FDI” and “Going Global” as the theme of the Fair. MOFTEC and the Organizing Committee arranged International Investment Forum with the topic of “FDI: To Create International Competitiveness” and other 27 seminars with the above two themes.
The 6th CIFIT had 1151 contracts signed with a total amount of 6.35 billion USD.
