CIFIT has been successfully held for four consecutive sessions with the support and participation of people from all walks of life both at home and abroad. Contracts were signed for 9,141 investment projects, with a total foreign investment amount of USD48.308 billion, and a total trade volume of USD3.754 billion.
Among which:
More than 6,200 overseas business guests attended the 1st Fair, during which contracts were signed for 2,714 investment projects, with a total foreign investment of USD14.632 billion, and a total trade volume of USD1.102 billion;
The 2nd Fair witnessed 6,377 overseas business people as participants, with a number of signed contracts for investment projects amounting to 2766, worth USD14.2 billion, and a total trade volume of USD1.053 billion;
The 3rd Fair saw 6,418 overseas business people from over 80 countries and regions attending the Fair, with1823 signed contracts on investment projects worth USD8.417 billion, and a total trade volume of USD813 million;
During the 4th Fair, there were 8,500 overseas business people from over 89 countries and regions attending the Fair, and 1,838 investment cooperation projects contracts were signed, with a total foreign investment amount of USD9.482 billion, and a total trade volume of USD786 million.

    Through various Seminars including "International Investment Forum," CIFIT has not only discussed in depth new ways of improving international investment cooperation and China's prospects for absorbing foreign investment, but given an overall introduction to latest trends in China regarding its policies in further encouraging foreign investment. In a word, it provides overseas business people with authoritative information on China's investment environment and mosted up-dated policies on foreign capital absorption.

Why do the affiliates of CIFIT attach increasing importance to the Fair?

First, all affiliates consider the Fair crucial and strategic in China's opening, and its introduction of foreign investment.
Second, the affiliates consider the Fair as an important window for investment promotion and attraction, which may allow them to get to know more business guests and friends and communicate with each other their experience and working methods, thus maximizing the attraction of foreign investment. Some affiliates have asserted that 70% of foreign capital in their regions has been introduced through the Fair.

1. Having a pivotal focus with strong pertinence. First, CIFIT focuses on the theme of investment promotion, which is in accordance with the development strategy of China's opening to the outside world.
2. Recognition and support from the State Council and the strategic guidance of MOFTEC. As CIFIT is a national event sponsored by the MOFTEC, full support and due recognition have been accorded to it by the central government, which has made fruitful efforts in upgrading its international influence.

How was the participation of the transnational corporations in previous sessions of CIFIT?

The success of CIFIT has attracted more and more multinationals to the Fair. Over 400 transnational corporations have attended the Fair, including over 100 transnational corporations listed among the World's Top 500. For example, at the 4th CIFIT held in 2000, over 60 of the World's Top 500 transnational corporations attended the Fair and exhibitions, such as GE, Kodak, Motorola, Esson Mobil, Dell, Nokia, Siemens, Panasonic, ABB, Toshiba, Canon, YKK, Nishoiwai, Caterpillar, Butler, etc.

What are the main tasks of the CIFIT Office under MOFTEC?

i. It is a representative of MOFTEC in Xiamen acting as a bridge between MOFTEC and the organizers;
ii. To draft the working plan of CIFIT and submit for approval;
iii. To offer guidiance to the organizers on invitation of exhibitors and visitors, and the promotion of investment and trade projects.

The major tasks of China (Xiamen) International Investment Promotion Center are to undertake such daily affairs as CIFIT organizing, planning and promoting, undertaking domestic and overseas liaison, exhibitors and visitors inviting, managing exhibition affairs, advertisement bidding, and image planning, etc.; to carry out exernal exchanges and cooperation with international investment promotion institutions; to organize international, domestic conferences and exhibitions in Xiamen aimed at promoting economy and trade, investment and cooperation; to undertake management work such as development and daily maintenance of China FDI Website; and to conduct personnel training related to international investment promotion, etc.

China (Xiamen) International Investment Promotion Center is a government-sponsored institution directly under Xiamen Municipal Government, which carries out its work under the dual leadership of the Organizing Committee of CIFIT and Xiamen Municipal Government, and undertakes the daily affairs of the Exhibition & Conference Dept., Liaison Dept., Logistics Dept. and Press Center of the Organizing Committee.
