A Chinese government delegation, headed by Zhu Hong, deputy director of the International Department of the Ministry of Commerce, recently participated in the annual conference of the Investment Committee of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Representatives from the China (Xiamen) International Investment Promotion Center also attended the conference. They talked to UNCTAD organizations to finalize arrangements for the Second World Investment Forum, which is slated to take place from September 6 to 9. They also took advantage of UNCTAD’s global multilateral cooperation platform to promote the forthcoming 14th CIFIT.
Government departments, investment promotion agencies, multinational companies, and academic institutions from across the world are looking forward to the Second World Investment Forum and the 14th CIFIT, two back-to-back international investment events in September. Ambassadors of Morocco, Zambia, Laos and Comoros to the United Nations engaged in fruitful talks the delegation, and that their nations will send sizable trade delegations headed by a ministerial-rank official to take part in the CIFIT and host briefings on their investment climates and invest opportunities, as well as investment project matchmaking symposia. The four nations are expected to engage in cooperation projects with China in oil, copper, tourism, agriculture and fishery sectors. The CIFIT Organizing Committee is closely following up on these potential projects. They will become valuable opportunities for domestic enterprises to “go global”.
