September 9, 2008, Xiamen 쭯 The fourth International Investment Promotion Agencies Roundtable Conference, on the theme of “Public-Private Partnerships in Infrastructure Building”, is held today during the 12th China International Fair for Investment & Trade, which is sponsored by Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) together with World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA). Over 200 representatives from more than 40 WAIPA member countries, including Brazil, China, the U.S., Argentina, as well as the representatives of international organization like UNCTAD attend the roundtable.
　
“The shortage of infrastructure in developing countries is an import obstacle to meeting population’s needs, to enterprise development and to achieving the goals of the Millennium Declaration,” said Mr. Alessandro Teixeira, the president of WAIPA and also the president of Apex-Brasil, “IPAs and local governments must coordinate efforts to create enabling environments and thus lower the risks to be borne by the private partners to an appropriate level.”
　
“Since 2005, MOFCOM has organized three roundtable conferences in conjunction with WAIPA during the CIFIT, which is not only an important meeting during the CIFIT, but also another major event held through the partnership between MOFCOM and WAIPA,” Assistant Minister Wang Chao of MOFCOM highly praised the WAIPA’s contribution to the investment promotion globally in his welcome speech.
