The first forum of the 13th CIFIT----2009 Western Taiwan Straits Financial Forum, themed around “Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) and Western Taiwan Straits Enterprise Upgrading”, was held in Xiamen yesterday. According to the attending experts, among the GEM listed enterprises, electronic and information enterprises rank the first in proportion, followed by enterprises of new energy, new materials, environment protection, etc.
Up to now, Fujian Province boasts over 160 provincial key listed supporting enterprises, over 300 urban listed supporting enterprises, over 50 enterprises reorganized or to be reorganized, revealed Zheng Zhajie, deputy director of Fujian Development and Reform Commission.
Zheng Zhajie also stated that it’s a long-term undertaking for enterprises on Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone to take advantage of GEM to advance technological innovation and achieve enterprise upgrading. Five years has already been devoted to the exploration of the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone, witnessing the following three major effects: First, national ministries and commissions as well as state-owned enterprises have reinforced their support for the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone. Second, more ideas and proposals have been presented for the development of the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone. Third, the development of the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone has drawn much attention from overseas and neighboring provinces. At present, all construction work is well under way. The development planning is being formulated to make the development of the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone better and faster.
