On February 24, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the organizing committee of the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (hereinafter referred to as CIFIT) jointly held a press conference for the second World Investment Forum and the fourth CIFIT in Beijing, with assistant commerce minister Wang Chao and deputy director of the organizing committee of CIFIT and Xiamen mayor Liu Xigui attending the conference and answering relevant questions of reporters.
Wang stated at the press conference that compared with the previous ones, the CIFIT will continuously closely focus on two big themes of “absorb foreign capital” and “expand export” and give priority to the opportunities and challenges of economic recovery in post-crisis times to establish a platform for foreign and domestic businessmen in the economic recovery to conduct exchanges and cooperation and jointly seek for business opportunities in the forms of information distribution and discussion, exhibition and display and project negotiation. The CIFIT will be rich and pragmatic in the aspects of exhibition and display, project matchmaking negotiation and symposiums, especially the project matchmaking with priority to be given to special projects matchmaking. In addition, the platform and window role of the CIFIT in exchanges with Taiwan will be more prominent.
Wang introduced that officially approved by the State Council of China, the second World Investment Forum with the theme of “investment and sustained development: opportunity, challenge and policy selection in the new period” and the fourth CIFIT will be simultaneously held in Xiamen, the largest bright spot of the CIFIT. During the forum, the “global investment summit” themed “fully exerting the role of foreign investment to boost the balanced and sustainable growth” will be held to invite chiefs of states, heads of governments and CEO of the global largest transnational enterprise to make dialogues. Also, the forum will also conduct more than 10 international high-end activities including “ministerial round-table conference”, “annual conference of global international investment agreement” and “forum on sustained development of securities exchanges of 2010”.
