The Vice President of China, Xi Jinping, is to attend the 14th CIFIT Opening Ceremony. Eight heads of states and government leaders of foreign countries, as well as 15,000 overseas visitors and exhibitors are arriving in Xiamen.
"All the preparations have been completed”, said Shen Danyang, director of the CIFIT News Center and deputy director for the General Office of the Ministry of Commerce. According to Shen, not only the scale of the fair, but also the level of participants will hit a record high.
Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Mr. Bill Clinton, former President of the United States, are expected to deliver a speech and conduct the discussion by teleconferencing in the 2nd World Investment Forum (WIF), which is to be held on September 7.
List of Eight Participating Foreign Heads of State Unveiled
"China’s Vice President Xi Jinping is to attend the opening ceremony of the 14th CIFIT and the 2nd WIF, as well as some related events”, Shen Danyang revealed to the media yesterday.
Meanwhile, the name list of foreign state heads and governmental chiefs to attend the 14th CIFIT and the 2nd WIF has been announced, which includes: Mr. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, President of Iceland; Mr. Aires Bonifacio Ali, Prime Minister of Mozambique; Mr. Angel Marin, Vice-President of Bulgaria; Mr. John Dramani Mahama, Vice-President of Ghana; Mr. Luis Giampietri Rojas. Vice President of Peru; Mr. Delroy Chuck, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Jamaica; Prof. Arthur G.O. Mutambara, Deputy Prime Minister, Zimbabwe; and Mr. Miyegombo Enkhbold, Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia.
“Mr. Cui Shi’an, Head of Macao SAR, Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi, Secretary-General of UNCTAD, and Rami, Director-General of WTO, will also be present at the grand opening ceremony of the 14th CIFIT, together with Vice President Xi Jinping”, added Shen Danyang.
Former US President Bill Clinton to Join in the Discussion
Over 200 ministers from home and abroad will converge in Xiamen, including Mr. Chen Deming, Minister of China’s Commerce, Mr. Wang Yi, Director of China’s Taiwan Affairs Office, Zhi Shuping, Chief of State General Administration for Quality Supervision, Mr. Shang Fulin, Chairman of China’s Stock Supervisory Committee, Mr. Manuel Chairman of South Africa State Planning Commission, to name just a few.
Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of United Nations, and Mr. Bill Clinton, former President of the United States, also appear on the name list of 2nd WIF keynote speakers. It is verified that they will participate in this grand event by teleconferencing.
15,000 Overseas Visitors and Exhibitors from Home and Abroad to Attend the 14th CIFIT
According to Shen Danyang, exhibitions and seminars of the 14th CIFIT will mainly focus on industry for the first time.
It is reported that the fair, by means of exhibitions, matchmaking symposia, forums and seminars, will highlight its key investment and cooperation industries such as new energy, high and new technology, energy conservation and environment protection, modern agriculture, infrastructure construction, project contracting, service outsourcing, tourism and financing, to promote international cooperation and exchange in these fields.
In addition, investment project road shows are to be held by several provinces and cities, as well as investment environment briefings for eighteen countries and regions.
So far, 627 overseas organizations from 108 countries and regions have registered for the fair. According to the Liaison Department of the Organizational Committee, 15,000 overseas visitors and exhibitors from over 130 countries and regions are expected to take part in the fair.
