Tanzania confirms participation in CIFIT

Tanzania will take part in the China International Fair for Investment and Trade in Xiamen in September.

 

Tanzania’s Minister of Industries, Trade and Investment Charles J. P. Mwijage delivered the news at a promotional conference held by the CIFIT delegation, which was led by Qiu Guoyue, deputy director of the Xiamen Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs, on June 14.

 

The minister said Tanzania would set up a booth at the fair and appoint the Tanzania Investment Center (TIC) to take charge of all matters relating to participation in CIFIT.

 

The conference was also attended by local Chinese and representatives of TIC, Tanzania’s Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) and the Association of Industry, Agriculture and Commerce.

 

This year’s CIFIT will be held in Xiamen, Fujian province, from Sept 18 to 21, with the aim of boosting commercial and trade ties.

 

According to Qiu, Xiamen will also host the 9th BRICS Summit and its attendees will gather in the city to discuss economic and trade cooperation. He extended a formal invitation on behalf of the CIFIT organizing committee to entrepreneurs in Tanzania to attend the event.

 

CIFIT will attract investment promotion agencies, chambers of commerce, guilds and multinational companies from more than 100 countries and regions, and will assist Tanzania to attract investment from China and other countries, he added.

 

Tanzania has established long-term friendly relations with China, and the two sides have enjoy extensive cooperation in politics, economy and trade, TIC’s executive director Geoffery I. Mwambe noted.

 

He spoke highly of CIFIT for its role as an investment and trade promotion platform and said he believes that CIFIT would enhance commercial cooperation between China and Tanzania and bring more benefits to the two peoples.

 

TIC and EPZA will organize local companies to attend the event, he said.

 

At the conference, Huang Yuxian, a Chinese entrepreneur representative in Tanzania, shared his CIFIT experiences and encouraged local companies to seek investment and business opportunities at the fair.

 

Xu Huopao, head of the association of Fujian fellows in Tanzania, was also present at the conference.
