Wang Qiongwen, director of the conference affairs department of 2019 CIFIT’s organizing committee, led a delegation to promote the 2019 CIFIT in Thailand from April 27 to 30.

The promotion team visited the Commerce Department of Khon Kaen, the Thailand Board of Investment, the Thai-China Business Committee, and the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce to introduce the 2019 CIFIT’s highlights and latest situations.

Khon Kaen is a sister province of Fujian, which has attended the CIFIT for two consecutive years.

Director of the Commerce Department of Khon Kaen said that Khon Kaen is a province of agriculture and now the province is dedicated to introducing more capital for the sector and exporting more local agricultural products.

He noted that fruitful results have been yielded at the fair last year and they will persuade the governor of the Khon Kaen participating in the 2019 edition of the event and addressing the Belt and Road Investment Conference.

After knowing about the differences between the China-ASEAN Exposition and CIFIT, executive chairwoman of the Thailand Board of Investment said that Thailand established a pavilion at the 2018 CIFIT and such a move promoted the overall profile of Thailand around the world and its tourism industry.

She added that this year, they will continue setting up a pavilion at the 2019 CIFIT to display the country’s preferential investment climate and competitive projects.

The Thai-China Business Committee was launched in 2000 during the then Thai foreign minister’s state visit to China with the aim of promoting the two countries’ exchanges in trade, investment, science and culture as well as expanding cooperation between their small and middle-sized enterprises.

Zhuang Jiexiang, secretary-general of the Thai-China Business Committee, said that the committee houses more than 100,000 member companies covering all the 77 provinces in Thailand.

Zhuang plans to lead a delegation for the fair in September.

The promotion team suggested that the committee should set up its own pavilion at the event to showcase their outstanding member companies.

Established in 1900, the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce is the largest Chinese and overseas Chinese organization in Thailand.

Lin Chunqin, vice-chairman of the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, said that they will organize Thai businesses and its members to attend the 2019 CIFIT to attract more investors to Thailand.

The promotion team has visited 22 institutions and organized eight promotional activities during their trips to the three members of ASEAN – Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand.

The organizing committee will help them formulate specific plans for their participation according to the visit.
